Celebrating the birth of a book – Conversations with a Hungry Ghost: Memoir of a Reluctant Medium

There is a Chinese proverb about a red thread of fate that connects us. I felt that red thread pull me to my ancestral villages in China, and through the veil that separates most folks from the spirit world. It played such a huge part in my life even before I knew anything about anything. So, naturally, it graces the cover of my book that I just released on Amazon. I hope you’ll check it out.

Conversations with a Hungry Ghost: Memoir of a Reluctant Medium.

Through the course of writing my story, I am no longer a reluctant medium.

A medium’s look at the political zoo

It’s probably safe to say that as a medium and reincarnation researcher, I look at politics quite differently than most folks.  I know, it’s a zoo out there.

While many folks – on both sides – harp on the negative aspects of the other, I view both candidates as a representation of what Carl Jung called “the collective consciousness.” In other words, they represent something in all of us Americans. You might say, “Well, that’s scary.” Or you might say, “Not ME!” But consider this: both candidates reflect something back to you and me, some things we like and some things we don’t.

So, here’s a technique I use when I am confronted by someone who I don’t like. It’s a very simple technique that I learned in a meditation class, using your imagination. I know, for some using much less trusting your imagination is like asking you to climb Mt. Everest; however, if you can put your analytical mind on the back burner for just a few moments, you might be surprised. The exercise goes like this:

Take a deep breath in and out. Now, think of a person, in this case, let’s look at Hilary Clinton and imagine her as an animal. Just bring your awareness to the image of the animal, observing without judging what the animal is doing, if it is by itself or with others. Now, freeze frame that image for a moment.

Next, do the same thing with Donald Trump.  Again, bring your awareness to the image of the animal, observing without judging what this animal is doing, if it is by itself or with others. Freeze frame that image and don’t forget to breathe deeply in and out.

Okay, that’s is. It sounds too simple, right? But you’d be surprised what this exercise can reveal.

I’d love to hear what image you perceived before I go further with the exercise. Oh, BTW, there’s more, which I will reveal in the next post. I know, it’s a bit of a tease, but hey, I’m feeling a need to “lighten up” in this election process, and I promise that the next post will be soon. Until then, you could watch the movie, “Zootopia.” It’s not just a kids movie!

Guided by Heaven’s way . . .

Strife in not new. Politics, wars, border lines, economics, you name it. It is clear that we are repeating the past, but will we learn from it?

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” George Santayana (1863 – 1952)

Maybe we can learn from Liu Bei, a Shu ruler during the Han dynasty in China.

“To restore order to the world, one must regain the hearts of the people, and the hearts of the people are best guided by following Heaven’s way.” (Three Kingdoms, episode 4)

Sounds simple, but even Liu Bei had trouble following this premise and experienced tremendous loss because of his failings.

We all do the best we can at any given moment. Maybe that is the lesson we can learn.

Perpetual Student

I believe that I learn something new everyday, but each year I like to focus on at least one specific class. This year I wanted to add to my Past Life Regression practice. To that end, I was pleased to complete a PLRT training with Carol Bowman, author of Children’s Past Lives and Return from Heaven. In 2012, I was fortunate to have a private session with Carol, so I was familiar with her technique, which is different from the techniques I learned with Brian Weiss. M.D. Both techniques are excellent and I believe they give me more tools in my PLRT toolbox.

Sometimes, what I learn is something about myself. During the training, we had opportunities to practice the techniques on one another. So, I am grateful for the breakthroughs I was able to make on my own issues. I believe healing those issues gives me a clearer vision about my life purpose. As I integrate what I learned at Temenos into my practice, this student continues to learn more about myself and others, and about life.

I love Carol Bowman’s approach: a small group in a sacred space (Temenos Retreat Center). And her mentoring after the training encourages me to move forward in the direction of my dreams. Thanks, Carol!

What will I learn today?

Lessons I learned from my mother . . .

We are constantly learning lessons from the people around us, especially from our parents. Whether our parents realize it or not, they teach us by the way they live their lives.

Like the mothers/daughters in the movie The Joy Luck Club, my mother and I learned to love and respect one another even though we had our trials and tribulations. As Suyuan said to her daughter, Jing-Mei,

You have style. No one can teach. Must be born this way. I see you.”

Mom died last week and I am really glad that we had the last year of Mom’s life to finally see each other, to laugh and to play, to forgive and to love.

Mom’s body is gone, but I know that she is still with me. Her spirit spoke to me shortly after she passed from this world to the next and I am sure she will share more about the other side when the time is right. I am looking forward to learning more from my mother. I suspect we will both continue learning because earth is, after all, a school.

Free Video Series with Dr. Brian Weiss

When I began my exploration into reincarnation/past lives twenty plus years ago, I was guided to Dr. Brian Weiss’s book Many Lives Many Masters. I was also fortunate to be able to attend many of his workshops and, eventually, everything lined up for me to train with Dr. Weiss in PLRT (Past Life Regression Therapy).

Some of the BEST CHOICES I have ever made in my life, but that’s another story.

Dr. Weiss continues his workshops all over the world and this year added a third training at Omega Institute to his schedule. However, if you are not able to attend, you might be interested in his free video series. If you are just curious or seriously interested to know more about reincarnation, don’t miss these videos.

The videos are the next best thing to attending a workshop or training with Dr. Brian Weiss and might be one of the best choices you’ll ever make.

Learning by Remembering

When I began consciously remembering my past lives, I also began to understand why certain subjects came easily for me. Back in the day, I was one of two girls in my high school who signed up for architectural drafting. The class was an easy subject for me much to the consternation of the boys in the class. In fact, long before I signed up for the class, I began drawing pictures of buildings in isometric perspective. I did not know what it was called back then, but I did it because that was the way I saw the building in my mind’s eye.

I remember those pictures in my head as if it were yesterday and the knowing I felt when I said to myself, “I will be a designer.” I was only eleven years old. I was not wealthy, nor was I exposed to architects or designers except in a book that my teacher brought into the library of the country school I attended. The book was about the life of Frank Lloyd Wright and something in that book “triggered a memory.”

Perspective from a past life memory

Long story short, I did not become an architect, but I did become an interior designer. I remembered other things that I can now relate to other past lives. For instance, I remember many lives where I practiced Feng Shui and also where I was psychic. In this life, I integrated my Feng Shui and psychic gifts with my interior design and created some amazing designs. And although I have now retired from interior design, I still integrate my psychic gifts with my new careers as past life regression therapist and writer. I wonder what else I will remember.

It made me wonder, what if we helped children remember their gifts and talents from previous lives and allowed them to develop those gifts more fully in this one? What kind of learning system would that be?

I dream of a time when we will remember more and nurture our creativity to its fullest. I believe I’ll come back to be part of the age of remembering.
